Take a trip across the water to Bere Island in West Cork and explore the stunning natural landscape.

Guarding the deep water harbour of Berehaven, Bere Island makes for a secluded haven of rich Irish history. Alongside its average population of just under 200 people, the island is home to Bronze Age and Medieval archaeological sites such as ring forts, standing stones and burial sites. Bere Island also holds on to elements from its British Imperialist past like imposing Martello towers which are open to the public.

Want to learn more about Bere Island's history? Visit the Bere Island Heritage Centre and comb through old photographs and artefacts that showcase the lifestyle of past islanders.

Explore the entire island on foot and admire the beautiful scenery. Or take to the water and enjoy a range of fun water activities such as boat trips, fishing and swimming.

Serviced by two car ferry services, visit Bere Island on foot, bike or car all year-round but be sure to check the timetables as they tend to differ based on season.
