Located centrally in Athy Town, “Freedom on the Water” departs from the Jetty adjacent to the Courthouse, with ample parking available.

Athy Boat Tours provides boat tours and private boat tours for up to twelve passengers on board “Freedom on the Water”.

Working with your group to create the perfect tour, whether you wish to enjoy a picnic on board during your tour to Levistown or lunch on the river bank during a day long trip to Maganey, a memorable experience is ensured.

As you travel along the Barrow Navigation there are some amazing features and breath-taking views. You can marvel at the majestic sprawling landscapes, flora and fauna and all the river offers.

The Lock Experience – one-hour tour - “Freedom on the Water” will take you from the jetty in the centre of Athy along the River Barrow and its idyllic surroundings, passing under the historic Horse Bridge, leading to Ardreigh.

While travelling into Ardreigh you will pass under Ardreigh Lifting Bridge, an area that is steeped in history and folklore. You will then experience the thrill of passing through Ardreigh Lock, watch the crew work the lock as they were hundreds of years ago. Be sure to have your camera, as there are many stunning views and features to photograph.

This is a round trip returning to the jetty. Your skipper and crew will give you an insightful view into life and history of the Barrow Navigation.

Cost: €10 per person | Family Ticket €36 (2 adults and 2 children).

The Barrow Blueway – Three Hour Tour- “Freedom on the Water” will take you from the Jetty in the centre of Athy along the River Barrow and its idyllic surroundings, passing under the historic Horse Bridge, leading to Ardreigh. While travelling into Ardreigh you will pass under Ardreigh Lifting Bridge, an area that is steeped in history and folklore.

You will then experience the thrill of passing through Ardreigh Lock, watch the crew work the lock as they were hundreds of years ago. You travel along the Barrow Navigation passing under Bunberry Bridge, Kilmorony Bridge, Tankerstown Bridge, Levitstown Lifting Bridge, as well as taking in stunning sights such as amazing weirs, Levitstown Mill, flora and fauna, fish, wildlife, spectacular scenery, finally passing through Levitstown Lock.

You will have many opportunities along the route for photographs. Your skipper and crew will give you an insightful view into life and history of the Barrow Navigation.

Cost: €20 adult, €12 child | Family Ticket €56 (2 adults and 2 children).
