Discover the wonders of Dunmore Cave, just 10km from Kilkenny City. Explore the rich history and geology of this natural attraction, where you can see some of the most impressive calcite formations in Ireland.

Visit Dunmore Cave in County Kilkenny and uncover the secrets of this ancient landmark. The cave has a history that dates back to the 9th century, when it was first mentioned in the collection of Irish Triads. It was also the site of a bloody Viking massacre in 928, according to other annals.

At the visitor centre, you can learn more about the cave and its surroundings through an audio visual presentation that covers the geology and evolution of the area over 350 million years. You can also see how Dunmore Cave was formed, what kind of wildlife lives there, and what treasures were found inside.

To make your visit more interactive, you can explore the Virtual Museum, where you can see some of the artefacts that were discovered in the cave. Join a guided tour of the cave and see for yourself the stunning calcite formations that adorn the chambers. Dunmore Cave is a place where you can experience the beauty and mystery of nature and history.
