Want to know what a snake really feels like or how a chameleon catches its prey? Find out these answers and more at The National Reptile Zoo in Kilkenny City, Ireland's only reptile zoo.

The National Reptile Zoo, located in Kilkenny City, is Ireland's only reptile zoo. With over 100 different animals and more than 50 species on display, from alligators to tortoises and toads to pythons, there is something for everyone to view and experience.

There are hourly animal encounters every day, giving you the chance to learn about, hold and touch some of the friendlier species like snakes, lizards, tarantulas and more.

Visit the Nocturnal Room where a reversed day and night cycle lets you see what some of the night-time active animals get up to once the sun goes down.

The Media Room catalogues some of the zoo’s conservation work abroad, along with the history of the zoo in sound and video. Children can also enjoy an indoor playground.
