Enjoy a tranquil walk or cycle through riverside scenery and native woodlands on this easy grade 7.3km greenway linking Lough Lannagh in Castlebar to the National Museum of Ireland at Turlough Village, County Mayo.

Largely following the placid Castlebar River, this pleasant linear route connects the county town of Castlebar in County Mayo, to the pictorial gardens of Turlough Park, home to the Country Life branch of the National Museum of Ireland.

Classed as easy to moderate, this 7.3km trail is set along the serene Castlebar river valley and takes about 1 hour 30 minutes to walk (one way) or 60 minutes to cycle. Shared by cyclists and walkers alike, the greenway follows surfaced and forest tracks through open countryside, quiet by-roads and native woodland before reaching the lush Turlough Park demesne. A mainly flat route, there is one steep hill and a number of quaint bridges.

In both Castlebar and Turlough you’ll find plenty of places to stop and enjoy a cup of coffee after walking or cycling this charming riverside trail.
