Explore the rugged natural beauty of counties Limerick and Tipperary via the stunning Slieve Felim Way. A 43km linear route, embrace lush mountain foothills, views over four counties and more in this exceptional corner of Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands.

This charming linear trail weaves its way from Murroe village through pleasant foothills and around Slieve Felim, Keeper Hill and the stunning Silvermine Mountains.

Taking two days to complete, the terrain consists of quiet roads, forestry tracks and field paths, with some wet stretches to be expected. About 11km of the total 43km follows local roads.

With the total aggregate ascent over this moderate route just 870m, there are no significant climbs - but there are some spectacular long views! The northern section of The Slieve Felim Way is particularly beautiful with incredible views of the renowned Silvermine Mountains, expansive views of placid Lough Derg and beyond.

Another treat is Keeper Hill, the highest mountain in the Shannon Region, this gem comes into view as you move northwards through the rolling Mauherslieve Hills.

The pretty former mining village of Silvermines then welcomes you on completing this rewarding two-day route.

Although the trail is signposted in either direction, it is generally agreed that the starting point from Murroe and walking towards Silvermines offers the most rewarding experience.
