Maulin Mountain Loop
More from visitors like you
Standing on the summit slopes of magnificent Maulin Mountain is your just reward for this 6.6km County Wicklow loop. Embrace the Garden of Ireland’s stunning scenery and views as far as Dublin Bay too.

Traversing pleasant forest tracks and paths across the heathery slopes of Maulin Mountain, this loop takes 2.5 hours to complete and is one of the best forest walks in Wicklow.

Strenuous in grade, this Crone Woods trail sits on the southern side of Glencree Valley. You’ll enjoy exceptional views over this majestic valley, one of a series of glaciated valleys in this part of beautiful Wicklow.

Ascending 350m over the route, the viewpoint at Ride Rock is a real treat. Overlooking serene Powerscourt Waterfall and the inspiring Great Sugar Loaf, this spot also boasts distant views of Dublin Bay and the city itself.

Once you’ve soaked up every charming mountain and valley vista, nearby Enniskerry is the place to stop for a little rest or a welcome cup of coffee.

Why we like it
  • The first section of this loop overlaps with the Wicklow Way – a  waymarked route that extends from Dublin City, through County Wicklow and into County Carlow. The two routes part company at the magnificent Ride Rock viewing point, overlooking Powerscourt Waterfall.
