For most people, a visit to a courthouse is not something to relish. But in Kinlough, The Courthouse Restaurant provides a different experience, dispensing culinary delights and seeing that justice is done in terms of good food.

There is a legend that Sardegna was the last place God made; with some thin soil and rock that was leftover from creation, he tossed the lot into the sea, stepped on it, and, voila – Sardegna was born.

It's not hard to see why the myth endures – Sardegna is geologically older than Italy or Sicily. Piero Melis, owner of The Courthouse, was born there, and he's well-versed in the ancient traditions of its people and its lands.

Now settled in Kinlough, he and his staff at The Courthouse restaurant take great pride in providing you with the most exciting and authentic Mediterranean dining with that deep-rooted Sardegnan flair.

Established in 1996 in the quiet village, The Courthouse is known for its stylish, yet simple surrounds and carefully considered dishes served up with Melis' signature, hands-on, friendly hospitality.

Having cut his chops for fifteen years with Richard Corrigan as manager of Bentley's London oyster bar, his approach to food is refreshingly down-to-earth and considerate of local - as well as visiting - palates.

Visit Melis and all the staff at The Courthouse, where you can enjoy a sumptuous dinner complemented by his favourite imported Sardegnan wines, before being bid goodnight by Melis himself as you head upstairs to bed. And if you thought dinner was wonderful, just wait until you try breakfast.
